Una vez publiqué en este blog un documento que me habian enviado en el que mencionaban un libro, “La música, ciencia y arte” de John Redfield, supuestamente agotado y casi imposible de conseguir. Ya que el título me resultaba interesante, me puse a buscar información sobre el mismo y me encontré con que al parecer su versión original en inglés (escaneada) esta disponible en Internet Archive (supongo que a esta altura ya habrá pasado a dominio público):

Next Monday finally starts the google summer of code, here my finally accepted application:

Title: Real-time spectral transformations
Mentor: Pau Arumí Albó
License: GNU General Public License (GPL)
Abstract: Revamp all CLAM SMS transformations. Turn real-time all those still aren’t and have them working on Network Editor. For example: Harmonizer, Morph and Time Stretch. Make nice prototypes for use them with Prototyper and have special focus on some. Also make real-time Voice2Midi and all those widgets which can be needed.

Some words more about this:

• Port it to real-time and NetworkEditor these spectral transformations: Harmonizer, morph, time-stretch and pitch-discretization.
• Fix gender change (already real-time, residual improvement)
• Make a harmonizer prototype with sliders to control each “voice” gain and the option of control them by midi too.
• Realtime Voice2MIDI. Piano-roll widget for NetworkEditor/Prototyper.
• More general improvements on SMS transformations over issues that can arise during the development of the project.

Last days I was mainly reading about SMS transformations and its model and the “Spectral Processing” chapter of the DAFX (Digital Audio Effects) book.

Hoy me encontré con un interesante y bastante completo “wikilibro” (libros de contenido libre y abierto que cualquiera puede editar) sobre acústica, llamado: “Acoustics”

En el mismo podemos encontrar los fundamentos básicos de la acústica, psicoacústica y acústica de recintos, asi como también aplicaciones en la música, psicoacústica, industria del transporte, etc.

El libro se encuentra bajo la GNU Free Documentation License.

Este es un libro sobre procesamiento digital de señales de Steven W. Smith (Ph.D.) que esta disponible de forma gratuita en internet para consultar o descargar.

Contiene las las técnicas básicas del DSP como convolución, recursividad y análisis de Fourier y muestra aplicaciones en diversos campos como audio y procesamiento de imágenes, redes neuronales, compresión de datos, etc. También se le dedica bastante espacio al diseño y uso de los filtros digitales.

Lo único malo que le veo es que los ejemplos de los programas están hechos en BASIC y no en C++ o matlab (o algunos de sus clones) que lo hubiese visto mucho más útil.
